Abstract

The article deals with the definition of chemophobia and examines its impact on the public image of chemistry. The increasing opposition to and hostility of the general public to chemistry as well as nurturing negative feelings are observed. Serious consequences for future development of chemistry as a result of such disconsolate development can be envisaged. A solution based on education, popularizing chemistry and proactive communication organized and performed by chemists are discussed.
