Abstract

Protein immobilization plays a crucial role in biosensor construction. Conformational changes take place during protein adsorption onto a solid surface. The conformational changes may cause a loss of biological activity and may lead to impairment of the sensor. This is why different immobilization techniques have been designed; some of them are commercially utilized. This article is an overview of methods of surface modification for noncovalent protein immobilization.
