Effects of Winter Wheat Supplementation with Selenium
Abstract
Effect of foliar application of Se doses (0.5-20 g per hectare) on Se accumulation in winter wheat grain was investigated in field fertilization experiments. Se fertilization (as Na2SeO3•5H2O solution) was realized at the growth stage of the 6th leaf. Se fertilization did not influence the yields of grain. Both the doses 10 and 20 g Se per hectare significantly increased Se accumulation in grain. The average Se content in dry matter of grain was 0.039 mg per kg without Se treatment; at the Se doses 10 and 20 g per hectare it increased to 0.094 and 0.192 mg per kg, respectively. Hence the dose 10 g Se per hectare is sufficient for reaching the required Se content in winter wheat grain.Downloads
