Keywords:

In this review, recent developments and applications of the ion-exclusion chromatography are presented. This method, developed by Wheaton and Bauman, has been used mainly for separation of aliphatic and aromatic organic acids, inorganic acids, alcohols, aldehydes, amino acids or sugars. Basic and alternative separation mechanisms of ion-exclusion chromatography method are described. Different types of stationary and mobile phases and their advantages or drawbacks are also discussed. At the end, applications of ion-exclusion chromatography for separation and determination of various analytes in different types of samples are presented.
